The art of photography is based on the ability of the camera to capture the world around it. One can argue a lot about how documentary photography is and whether it can be documentary at all, but it is not worth arguing that photography can tell stories based on images of the surrounding world: it's obvious. The photographs collected in this book do not copy the world. They build a frame-by-frame picture of the world lying on the border of familiar reality. This world is not hiding in any other being, it is here, nearby, but we are not attentive enough to see it. The camera is attentive.
